Massive Storm Causes Widespread Damage
On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, a massive tornado outbreak struck the state of Oklahoma. One of the most destructive tornadoes of the outbreak was an EF5 twister that touched down in Newcastle, near Oklahoma City, at 2:56 pm. The tornado caused widespread damage, flattening neighborhoods and killing at least 24 people.
The tornado outbreak was part of a larger severe weather event that affected the central United States on May 20 and 21, 2013. The outbreak produced dozens of tornadoes, including several EF5 tornadoes, and caused widespread damage and loss of life.
